Here are the people that make up Sunrise OT in Canberra.
Nedra
Director/Occupational Therapist
Nedra has been an occupational therapist for more than 30 years. She loves working with people and solving practical problems. She began working in early intervention with very young children and their families. As her own son grew older, Nedra enjoyed exploring new areas of practice and gaining new skills and experience in the process.
In 2008, Nedra expanded her skills in prescribing specialised equipment for children, adolescents and adults. Nedra believes that finding the best equipment for people can transform their lives. Nedra set up the Children and Young Peoples Equipment Loan Service (CAYPELS) in 2009. She went onto managing the Therapy ACT Equipment Services team and assisting clients to get specialised equipment such as wheelchairs.
When the NDIS came to the ACT in 2014, Nedra had to decide. Would she stay in the ACT Public Service as a manager/policy officer? Or would she continue to practice occupational therapy? After much thought she recognised that working with clients was her first love and that she enjoyed finding creative solutions to practical issues of life. Nedra knew she found great satisfaction when clients received equipment that met their needs, worked effectively, and felt comfortable. So, she decided to go into private practice in 2016 with myOT! Therapy Services, moving onto setting up her own practice, Sunrise Occupational Therapy, in 2019.
Steve Playford
Office Manager
Steve worked for the Commonwealth Public Service, Industry Department for 25 years. When Nedra went into private practise Steve brought his financial experience to the business, seeing an opportunity to further develop his skills in the private sector. Steve enjoys his contact with clients and the variety of his job.
